Hillsborough Leisure Centre was voted UK Leisure Centre of the Year by the FIA for an unprecedented four years running and was shortlisted for a fifth year.

David Stalker, CEO, FIA said: “These award categories recognise the health and leisure facilities which are operating to the highest industry standards, and once again the standard of entrants was very high.

“The finalists encapsulate the theme of this year’s FIA Flame Conference: ‘In Search of Excellence’, and should be applauded for leading the way in continually improving the quality and reputation of service delivery in our sector. I look forward to presenting the winners with their award at the Ball of Fire and I hope you will join us to celebrate their achievements.”

The FIA Flame Conference 2012 will be held on 27 June at Magna Science Adventure Centre, followed by the evening Ball of Fire event at Ponds Forge. The annual Flame Golf Day will take place on 26 June 26 Tankersley Manor & Golf Course.

As well as hosting the evening party, SIV has also facilitated a number of aspects of the event such as the hotel, golf and conference venues to maximise economic impact for the region.
