Ponds Forge International Sports Centre made waves when it hosted a charity swimming event.
The centre raised more than £7,600 at the annual Swimathon in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care, placing them at number three in the fundraising table for the North of England.
More than 500 venues across the UK took part in the event, which this year raised a total of more than £1.5 million for the national charity.
Marie Curie raises funds to provide nurses who offer care and support to people with terminal cancer and other illnesses in their own homes.
Now in its 24th year, over half a million swimmers across the country have taken part in the Swimathon, swimming the equivalent of more than 24 times round the world and collecting over £32 million for charity.
The event saw both customers and staff from the Sheffield International Venues (SIV) managed Ponds Forge take to the pool and swim either 5K, 2.5K or 1.5K.
Helen Broadbent, General Manager at Ponds Forge, said: “We have been involved in the Swimathon for a number of years now and we always have a fantastic turnout from both staff and members of the public.
“Not only is the event a great way to raise money for a fantastic cause like Marie Curie, but also means that participants are keeping fit and healthy, which is something we actively encourage everyone to do.
“Congratulations to everyone who completed the challenge and contributed to such a big fundraising total for the charity.”
