A group of Army Cadets from Sheffield have made a splash by completing a sponsored swim with a difference at the city's Ponds Forge Sports International Centre.
The group of six youngsters, who are based at Manor Top, swam for 45 minutes in full army uniform to raise £500 for the Help for Heroes charity.
Help for Heroes was launched in October 2007 by group of friends and service relations to help the wounded returning from Iraq and Afghanistan.
Over the last two years, the charity has welcomed aid from a variety of fundraisers and events such as the Big Battlefield Bike Ride, which raised more than £1million. Finalists from the X Factor also released the single ‘Hero' in October 2008 to raise money for the charity.
Helen Broadbent, general manager at Ponds Forge said, "The cadets did fantastically well to swim for so long, especially as they were in full uniform, and it was great to see lots of staff and customers from Ponds Forge there to cheer them on!
"We were delighted to offer the use of our pool for this event. The money raised from the swim will help to fund vital support and treatment for those who need it."
