The Bishop of Sheffield, Jack Nicholls, will be keeping a close eye on his namesake when a major sporting event comes to the city.
‘Jacks’ will be the centre of attention from November 4 to 11 at the engage International Open bowls tournament – and Bishop Jack is one of many looking forward to the event returning to the city.

The Bishop said he would try with all his ‘mitre’ to catch the hotly contested action at Ponds Forge International Sports Centre!
He said: “I’m a big sports fan and enjoy watching most competitions. It’s great for Sheffield that the city attracts so many high profile events and with a key part of the game sharing my name I’ll be taking a keen interest!
“I’m sure the city will turn out in force to support the world’s best players competing on our doorstep.”
The engage International Open has been brought to Sheffield by the City Council’s Major Sports Events Unit and is the latest in a string of high-profile events this year.
Bowls is a sport that appeals to people of all ages from young children through to grandparents, an ethos reflected by title sponsor engage Mutual Assurance– a family focused financial services provider.
