Following recommendations from the ISRM, Ponds Forge International Sports Centre adhere to the following guidelines.
• Children under the age of 8 years must be accompanied in the water at all times by a responsible person (16 years or older).
• Children under the age of 4 years must be accompanied by a responsible person (16 years or older) in the following ratio:
- on a two-to-one basis (2 children to 1 responsible person) in the baby pool area only. Both children MUST be wearing armbands.
- on a one-to-one basis in all other areas.
• Children aged between 4 & 7 years must be accompanied by a responsible person (16 years or older) on a maximum two-to-one basis.
These guidelines are designed for the safety of children in swimming pools and Ponds Forge is committed to ensuring the safety of all its customers.

asa / ISRM Pool Swimming Standard Award
The asa / ISRM Pool Swimming Standard Award has been designed to complement and support ISRM's risk assessment guidance for child admissions. The award provides an assessment of swimming ability and water confidence enabling those adults with children under the age of 8 who meet the criteria, to accompany more than the recommended number of children into the pool.
